Text Message Reminder Service

The surgery is now offering a free text message reminder service. The surgery will send you a free text message to your mobile phone to remind you of your appointment. We will also be able to remind of any reviews that are due and inform you of other services available at the surgery.

Forms are available at the surgery for you to update your mobile telephone number details. There is also the option to 'opt-out' of the service if you do not wish to receive any messages.

NEW SURGERY WEBSITE

A new re-vamped and restyled Uppingham Surgery Website will be launched on the 1 September 2011. The new site will keep this web address and will enable us to provide more readily useable information and documentation for our Patients.

NEW SURGERY PATIENT SOFTWARE SYSTEM

The surgery will be changing to a new software system - SystmOne - on the 30 November and 1 December 2011. More details will follow but regrettably this will cause some unavoidable disruption to the services provided by the Surgery.

Firstly, appointments will be restricted for a few days prior to the changeover date to emergencies appointments only.

Secondly, we will be dispensing 2 months worth of repeat prescriptions for November and December 2011.

Thirdly, we will be asking Patients to change their PIN and passwords in order to make appointments and order Prescriptions online with SystmOne.

We will of course keep you posted on this project.

Do we have your email address? We are currently updating your patient records with your email address so that we can keep you up to date with the latest surgery news including our bi-monthly newsletter. Please email noreplyc82077@gp-c82077.nhs.uk with your email account or complete an email request slip available at reception.

EXTENDED OPENING HOURS FOR PATIENTS UNABLE TO ATTEND ROUTINE SURGERY APPOINTMENTS

To allow more flexibility of appointment times to suit patients who work long hours or commute, the Uppingham Surgery provides additional GP sessions between 0800 and 0830 each weekday morning, on monday evenings up until 1930, and between 1800 and 1830 on every tuesday, wednesday and thursday. We emphasise that these appointments are intended for patients who cannot attend normal surgery hours.

EMERGENCY DEPT GP REFERRAL SCHEME

On 1st September 2008 the above scheme will start. This is a joint initiative between Leics City PCT, Leicestershire County & Rutland PCT and University Hospitals of Leics NHS Trust.

All patients attending the emergency dept at a UHL hospital will be triaged. If they have presented with an inappropriate problem then they will be referred back to their own GP to make an appointment at their surgery.

WALK IN BLOOD CLINICS

We hold daily walk in blood clinics & a routine blood pressure clinic each morning from Monday to Friday in the building behind the surgery. No appointment is necessary but your doctor must have authorised any blood tests.

The clinic times are as follows:

8.30am-9.30am - Fasting blood tests
10am-11.30am - Routine blood tests
11.30am-12.30pm - Routine Blood Pressure Clinic

TRANSFER OF APPOINTMENTS

If your registered Dr is ill or will not be available and you have pre-booked an appointment, we will automatically transfer you to another GP within the practice.

In most cases we will offer you the same appointment time or as near as possible and the same venue, to minimise disruption to you.

If you express your wish never to see another Dr (please complete form at reception) then please be aware that your appointment will be cancelled and you may have a long wait for another appointment if you refuse to see another GP.

PATIENTS LATE FOR APPOINTMENTS

If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment you may need to rearrange it. If your appointment is urgent, please speak to the receptionist who will advise the dr on your behalf.

HELP FOR SMOKERS
Smoking Cessation clinics are held every Monday afternoon at the Uppingham surgery with qualified advisor Belinda Davies. Patients may book an appointment at reception.

OUT OF HOURS SERVICES
The PCT has taken responsibilty for out of hours services from December 1st 2004. Unfortunately the PCT has decided that the surgery will no longer open on Saturday mornings. A doctor will be available for emergencies by appointment only at Rutland Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Centre. (0845 045 0411 - for emergencies only)

CHANGES TO ONLINE PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS

To request your personal log in details please send us a message via the communications link at the very bottom of this page.

We also have a silver post box situated in the foyer of the Uppingham surgery for repeat prescription requests. Your prescription will be prepared within 48 hours of placing your order.

CHANGES TO ONLINE APPOINTMENT BOOKINGS
The online booking facility now offers a wider range of appointments that can be booked online. The new system will require you to log in using an individual PIN number. To request your personal log in details please send us a message via the communications link at very bottom of this page.

TOUCH SCREEN BOOKING IN AT UPPINGHAM
In our continued aim to provide as efficient a service as possible for our patients, we have installed an automated booking in machine. It is situated alongside the main reception desk, and uses touch screen technology. All you need to know to use this machine is your date of birth.
