Welcome to the The Uppingham Patient Participation Group (PPG) Website Page

Uppingham Surgery is eager to ensure that local people are actively involved in deciding how the health services they use should develop. In order to provide patients with the opportunity to express their views the Uppingham PPG was set up.

The Aim of the PPG is to give patients, GPs and Practice Staff an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and information and then to take action to make improvements. Our activities will include; holding health information events, consulting patients on their experiences and views on how services should be changed or improved, producing a newsletter keeping patients up-to-date on the activities of the PPG and the services that the practice offers, as well as giving regular updates on new healthcare initiatives.

There are many benefits in having a PPG. Patients can gain a better understanding and knowledge of the Practice and the Staff; they will be consulted about their primary healthcare before decisions are made; there will be better communication between patients and staff and there will be a forum for patients to suggest positive ideas and voice concerns. Patients now have an organisation through which their views can be represented in local healthcare and also an opportunity to make links with other community initiatives.

At present the PPG has 12 volunteer positions which cover a diversity of tasks and areas. We would welcome new members who have the time, skills and commitment to make things happen. If you are interested in becoming an active member of the Group, please contact one of the members listed below. If there are no vacancies at the time of your enquiry, your name will be added to the list of volunteers and you will be informed of any ongoing issues and possibly be invited to become involved in specific projects.

It should be noted that the PPG is not a forum for individual complaints or single issue campaigns. The idea of the Group is to work as a team to try and represent the whole Practice population working in close harmony with Practice Staff to improve healthcare in the community.
