Making Appointments

Book appointments on line

We are continually working to improve the availability of appointments in order that patients may be seen on the same day, as part of a national initiative on access to primary care.

To make an appointment please telephone 01572 823 531 between 8:15 and 10:00am on the day the appointment is required, you will then be offered an appointment, during the normal surgery times of 8:30 – 11:00am and 3:30 – 5:30pm (5pm on Fridays). A few patients find their work or family commitments mean that they need to plan well in advance, we therefore offer a number of advance appointments each day which may be booked up to 4 weeks ahead. You may now also make advance appointment bookings using the appointments online facility, (see below).

If you are able to make and keep an appointment on the same day, we would prefer you to do that as it keeps advance appointments free for those who cannot. We have found that same day appointment availability means that patients do not need to divulge information to the receptionists in order to be added in as “extras”, and this is much better for everybody concerned.

We have branch surgeries located in Barrowden, Gretton and Ketton. All medical records are now kept on computer and are available at every surgery. If your doctor is consulting at a branch surgery you may also be offered an appointment there, (provided you have access to transport). The appointments system is the same across all sites, so there are none of the long waits associated with open surgeries.

Booking using the online facility
(Please read the information below before using the facility)

This system is only for use by patients who are already permanently registered at our practice, and is only suitable for making standard appointments with your registered doctor, Dr Walker or Dr Wishart at our main surgery site in Uppingham, or at your usual branch site. It cannot at the moment book nurse appointments, joint appointments with doctor and nurse, extra long appointments, and so on. If you need an appointment of this sort then you should telephone the practice in the usual way. You can make only one appointment at a time, and only for yourself as you will require an identity code and PIN number to access the avaliable appointments schedule. For family visits it may be best to make a telephone booking with the receptionist on 01572 823 531. You can now also book babies into the health visitor clinic on a Tuesday pm at Uppingham (you will need a pin number for each child).

In order to access the online booking facility on the first occasion you will need to contact the surgery to request your individual identity code and PIN number, as well as the surgery's identity code (you may request your details by contacting the surgery direct or sending a message via our communications link). You will then need to register these details on line using the link below, and then follow the prompts to create your individual account. For all access after you initial registration you will just need your identity code, the surgery identity code and your chosen password.

The online booking facility allows you to directly access all our available appointments, but we request that you only book appointments with your registered doctor, Dr Walker or Dr Wishart. In the event of your registered doctor being unavailable you may book appointments with Dr Walker or Dr Wishart.
We do ask that if you are unable to attend an appointment you have made that you either cancel it using the online facility or by ringing the surgery direct at least 24hrs prior to your appointment to allow us to re-offer the appointment to another patient.

We continually monitor use of our online booking facility, and any misuse of it will result in individuals being refused access to the system.
