IMPROVING PRACTICE QUESTIONAIRE 2008-2009

Thank you for taking part in our practice surveys which ran during October and November. We would like to share our results in the two most common areas where we received below average scores.

We asked you to rate the ‘comfort level of waiting room’. You gave us an overall score of 34%.

Peel GPs will be relocating to the new Bury NHS Townside Field Primary Care Centre. We will be located on the corner of Angouleme Way and Knowsley Street. As you enter the building, you will be welcomed and directed by a member of our staff to enter the lift which will take you to our location on the 1st Floor.

Building work is progressing and on schedule for November 2009 completion. We expect to move in to our new building in January 2010.

We asked you to rate the ‘ease of contacting the practice on the telephone’. You gave us an overall score of 38%.

We are looking at ways to improve our telephone service to you.

When we open at 8:30 a.m., the telephone lines are very busy for patients making appointments. During this busy period, we have 5 receptionists answering your calls.

The telephones are answered by staff from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

From 12:45 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. the telephones are answered and this time is for Emergencies only.

The prescription line is very busy during the opening hours and even though you receive the engaged tone, staff are answering calls.

Doctors and staff will be encouraging you to order prescriptions via our website.

In the coming year we will be introducing batch prescription ordering. For more information please contact the surgery.

We would prefer that you order your prescriptions via our website, www.peelgps.nhs.uk

You can order 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We receive your request via email and these are printed out several times during the working day.

The first batch of emails are printed out at 8:20 a.m. every working day

We offer the same service, e.g., your prescription will be ready for collection after 3:00 p.m. the following working day.

If you order your prescription no later than 10:00 a.m. we aim to have your prescription ready for collection after 3:00 p.m. that same day.

We value your comments, which enable us to improve our service. Thank You
