Email Configuration Help

This page offers help on updating the email addresses that you have registered with GPUK.net for use on your website.

An appropriate email setup is crucial for correct running of the appointment, repeat prescription, and new registration systems so please study this section carefully and ensure that you set valid addresses.

For other uses of the website email to your practice is not essential, but it may be worth giving it some attention along the lines indicated here since your patients may expect you to accept email if you have a website.

Usually you will set appointments, reception, and reception email addresses to be all the same. The Admin email address will usually be different to these e.g. the address of your practice manager or interested partner.

Display of Email addresses

The Admin email address is not displayed to your patients.

The other email addresses are not initially displayed to your patients, but you can indicate if you wish them to be displayed. If you say Yes to this question then the addresses may be displayed on the Contact page, and also as the reply address on emails to patients such as repeat presription and appointment acknowledgements.

You should not enable the display of addresses until after you have checked your practice email setup as per Email Setup Help .

Admin Email Address. This address will not be published on the website. It is for us to use to contact you, or for you to use to contact us. This should normally be different to the email address(es) to be used by the receptionist for receiving messages about appointments and repeat prescriptions, though it can be the same if you prefer. Typically you would set here the email address of the practice manager or interested partner.

Reception Email Address. This address will be used by the website to send to the practice any correspondence submitted there and will also be displayed as the contact address. This address is also used for the Online New Patient Registrations. Ensure that you set a valid address and that you have set up your practice email appropriately and that you have trained the staff to use it. Usually you will set the same address for reception, appointments, and repeat prescriptions.

Appointments Email Address. This address will be used by the online appointment booking system to send details of appointments bookings to your practice. Ensure that you set a valid address and that you have set up your practice email appropriately and that you have trained the staff to use it. Usually you will set the same address for reception, appointments, and repeat prescriptions.

Prescriptions Email Address. This address will be used by the online repeat prescription system to send details of prescription requests to your practice. Ensure that you set a valid address and that you have set up your practice email appropriately and that you have trained the staff to use it. Usually you will set the same address for reception, appointments, and repeat prescriptions.

Backup Email Address. This address will receive copies of all emails generated by the GPUK.net systems (appointments, prescriptions, registration details). This is useful if you do not trust the reliability of your practice NHSnet server or connection, or if you wish to collect copies of all emails for audit purposes. Ensure that you set a correct and valid address.
