Out Of Hours Care

When the surgery is closed there is still medical cover available and you have several options.

As during the day time, in case of serious illness or accident your most appropriate choice may be to attend the Accident and Emergency Department.

The NHS provides Walk In Centres staffed by specially trained nurses who can deal with minor illness and injuries, advice, emergency contraception, ear syringing, removal of sutures, dressings etc.

No appointment is needed at the Walk In Centres. There are a Walk In Centres at Prestwich Health Centre, Fairfax Road. Opposite the Metrolink Station,and at The City Health centre 2nd Floor, Boots, 32 Market Street,Manchester, M1 1PL Tel: 0161 839 6227. Please note the Piccadilly Walk in Centre has now closed.

This one is staffed by Doctors and Nurses and offers a wide range of services.This is open from 8am to 8pm 7 day per week .

You may also attend Ancoats Community Clinic at Old Mill Street ,Ancoats, M4 6HH Tel Number 274 1640 This centre is a Nurse Led service and is open 8.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. You may telephone here before you attend if you wish. Please note all walk in centres see their last patient half an hour before the closing time.

NHS Direct Tel 0845 4647 offers 24 hour telephone advice by specially trained nurses. there is also an NHS Direct Online Website which gives advice to help you manage illnesses.

Out of hours you cannot obtain routine services such as repeat prescption orders, make appointments, or get get results.Out of Hours services are only available for urgent medical problems which cannot wait until the surgery is open

If you require URGENT care outside of the hours of 8.30am - 6.30 pm Monday to Friday then please contact surgery as usual and your call will automatically be rerouted to the out of hours centre. This service is provided by North Manchester PCT.

You may be given advice by a Doctor over the telephone or you be asked to attend a treatment centre to be seen. Home Visits will only occur in exceptional services
